Anna-Maria Capizzi founded Capizzi Legal and focuses her practice in the area of family law.
Anna, as she is known, was born in Offenbach am Main, Germany, to Sicilian parents and is fluent in English, German and Italian. Her cultural background has a tremendous influence on how she interacts with her clients and practices law. Anna pays attention to her client’s needs and her compassionate approach makes them feel at ease when discussing sensitive issues at a time of immense distress. However, her keen attention to detail and aggressive approach to motion practice has proven excellent client results.
Anna moved from Germany to Florida in 2000. The first few years, Anna was devoted to learning English; eventually, she graduated with honors from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. Then, Anna moved on, working as a case manager for Henderson Behavioral Health, and as paralegal, before she decided to attend law school.
In 2012, Anna-Maria earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude from St. Thomas University College of Law where she graduated in the top 10% of her graduating class.
Prior to going solo at Capizzi Legal, Anna was an attorney for Children’s Legal Services at the Department of Children and Families in Miami, Florida. At CLS, she advocated for the safety, well-being, and permanency of Miami’s abused, abandoned, and neglected children. Anna regularly attended court hearings, prepared witnesses for legal proceedings, and conducted thorough legal research to support dependency and termination of parental rights cases.
Before joining CLS, Anna was a family law attorney and managing partner at Seff & Capizzi Law Group in Hollywood, Florida, from June 2013 to January 2023. At Seff & Capizzi Law Group she represented clients in all aspects of family law, including divorce, paternity, child custody, alimony, and property division.
Before becoming an attorney, Anna served as a certified legal intern for the Broward County Office of the Public Defender, where she worked in the felony division. While working at the Broward PDs office, Anna participated in daily arraignments, numerous plea negotiations, and pre-trial motion litigation.
With her experience at CLS and the completion of her Guardian ad Litem training, Anna is looking forward to expanding her practice in representing the best interest of children regarding time sharing, parental responsibility, and other children’s issues.
Anna has extensive experience counseling clients at both trial and appellate levels, drafting legal documents, conducting depositions, and negotiating settlements. She has successfully handled numerous contested trials and mediations, demonstrating her strong advocacy skills. Her expertise includes legal research, drafting of pleadings, motions, marital settlement and prenuptial agreements, parenting plans, and preparation for hearings, trials, and mediation. She is highly skilled in case strategy development, litigation, negotiation, and client relations.
Anna enjoys talking to you. So don’t be shy! Call our office to develop your legal strategy with her with her and decide for yourself if she is a good fit to be playing on your team. This difficult time is only temporary and if along this rocky road she can put at least one smile on your face, she would feel very privileged.
Until we meet, thank you, grazie, and danke schön.
